Another Year in the Books
Dear St. Mary Community,
Another year is drawing to a close! It is really hard to believe. As this year finishes, I think about all the experiences which mark the 2009-10 school year. There were so many highs, in addition to some lows.
The strongest memory will no doubt be the passing of Mr. Cooney. He left an indelible mark on the soul of this community. His infectious personality, humorous character, incredible talent, and faithful conviction inspired us all and continues to resonate long after his untimely death.
This year saw history happen with our first split kindergarten class and the emergence of amazing new teachers at our school, namely Mrs. Satern and Mrs. Garsjo in kindergarten and Mrs. Heuberger in the middle school. Despite the economic climate, our school continues to grow stronger and be successful as ever. Students keep winning awards and achieving academic excellence. Teachers and staff continue to do fantastic, creative, and brilliant work with our children to help them learn and grow closer to God.
Mrs. Tyler's retirement in June will be the third in three years, following Mrs. Foltz (2008) and Mrs. Ragulsky (2009). The absence of their collective experience and wisdom is a call to those of us carrying the torch forward to keep the focus and mission of this school squarely in our sights.
I would last like to take this opportunity to thank each and every St. Mary parent. Your dedication, support, and commitment to this school is the only reason we are able to continue doing God's work with these beautiful children of yours. I deeply appreciate your willingness to make the sacrifices needed for this school community to be successful.
God bless you,
Rick Schindler, Principal
